Searching for the correct anode material in CP to tests with the Oil & Gas non mag drill collar materials.

We are about to release the sacrificial anode to the field to test the cathodic protection method on the non mag SB P530 material. Studying at some corrosion prevention methods to protect from the corrosive mud environment with H2S formation and others.

Materials concern are the non mag materials, basically SB P530 and P550 SCHOELLER-BLECKMANN, SMFI GRADE:AMAGNIT501 and JORGENSEN FORGE CORPORATION NMS140.

  22. Xianming says:

    Dear CP Professionals:

We are conducting this survey as part of a research project sponsored by the Oregon Department of Transportation, entitled “Replacing Thermal Sprayed Zinc Anodes on Cathodically Protected Steel Reinforced Concrete Bridges”. Click here: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=J1AB3N1c4VH2fLFgBuUyqQ_3d_3d (feel free to forward this to other professionals specialized in CP or coatings removal or concrete surface preparation).

Thank you for taking the time to provide input on this important research, which aims to determine the most cost-effective method to remove existing zinc anodes and to develop a protocol to prepare the concrete surface for the new anode.

    Happy holidays!

    Sincerely,

    Xianming

Actually i don’t have specific comments, but i tried to log in item no.9 under the following topic but i failed.
“Searching for the correct anode material in CP to tests with the Oil & Gas non mag drill collar materials”

Please can i have a copy to be kidly sended to my email of the above mentioned absract which is developed by Mr. Mohamed Edris

Moreover if there is any websites discussing the effect of using sacrificial anode cathodic protection with sour service or even traces of hydrogen sulfide, kindly send me the link.

  24. I am a technical procedure writer and need to put together some procedures for CP regarding operation and maintenance. I will definately use this website for information on CP.

  29. Mark says:

I am a little confused about Impressed Current Systems. I’ve heard two different things and don’t know which is correct. On an Impressed Current System, do ALL components of the system have to be continuous with each other, or do they only have to be continuous with themselves? For example, if a site has two tanks with piping, one regular and one super, does the regular tank and piping have to be continuous with each other? Or if they are both continuous with themselves, meaning all the tank and piping for the regular is continuous, and all the tank and piping of the super is continuous with itself, but the two are not continuous with each other, is that still ok? Any help in clearing up my confusion would be greatly appreciated.
